The City of Mission Viejo is now accepting applications for holiday or seasonal displays at the southwest and northwest corners of the intersection at La Paz Road and Chrisanta Drive.
A longtime ritual in our City, the Four Corners Holiday Display embodies the holiday season and spirit of the community.
As part of the annual Great California ShakeOut, the City of Mission Viejo will test its mass-notification system AlertOC with calls, texts and emails to residents at 10:17 am on October 17. The drill will replicate a big earthquake requiring thousands of numbers to be called simultaneously.
With hot temperatures hitting the southland, the City is reminding residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related injuries and death.
During an average summer, some 200 people across the country die due to heat injuries from exposure to high summer temperatures. Clearly, heat can be a force, particularly in Southern California, where temperatures exceeding 100 degrees in the suburban valleys and 110 degrees in the low desert areas are common during the summer and fall.
The City of Mission Viejo is hosting the annual Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 20 from 8 am to noon.

The City of Mission Viejo is in the process of updating its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). The purpose of the plan is to help create a safer community for residents, businesses, and visitors. The LHMP allows public safety officials and City staff, elected officials, and members of the public to understand the threats from natural and human-caused hazards in our community.
The City of Mission Viejo is reminding residents that sandbags are available to protect properties from flooding and emergency erosion.
Sandbags are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bags are pre-filled and are limited to 10 bags per resident. Residents can pick-up sandbags throughout the City at the following locations:
