With recent small earthquakes shaking the Southland, the City of Mission Viejo is reminding residents to be prepared for a larger quake that can strike at any time.

As part of the annual Great California ShakeOut, the City of Mission Viejo will test its mass-notification system AlertOC with calls, texts and emails to residents at 10:19 am on October 19. The drill will replicate a big earthquake requiring thousands of numbers to be called simultaneously.

The City of Mission Viejo is now accepting applications for holiday or seasonal displays at the southwest and northwest corners of the intersection at La Paz Road and Chrisanta Drive.

A longtime ritual in our City, the “Four Corners Holiday Display” embodies the holiday season and spirit of the community.

City of Mission Viejo staff and contractors were busy throughout the weekend as Tropical Storm Hilary caused downed trees and debris in the streets but no major damage to our community.

To ensure residents were equipped with sandbags to help prevent potential flooding, City staff worked to keep sandbags replenished and distributed roughly 3,500 bags.
