Recreation

The winter edition of Mission Viejo Life is now online – offering a plethora of information about classes for the community, resources, and special events as well as recreation and fitness.

Inside the pages are details about exciting winter events including several festive holiday activities, the Oso Fit 5K Fun Run and Community Health Fair and much more.

Mission Viejo Life also features information about resources for seniors, pickleball, recreation and fitness activities and classes for the young and young at heart.

The Mission Viejo Activities Committee invites the community to a special Día de los Muertos Fiesta (Day of the Dead) at the Norman P. Murray Center on Saturday, October 25 from 2 to 9 pm.

The festivities will provide the chance to explore the educational and cultural significance of Day of the Dead traditions. Enjoy live Mariachi music, Folklorico Dance, face painting, puppet show and folk-art workshops. You can also bring a photo of a loved one or pet that passed to add to our special Ofrenda (memorial altar).

If you’re looking for a frightfully good time this weekend, head to the North Paseo at LOS OSOS on Saturday, October 18 for the Night Market.

The fun takes place from 5 to 9 pm at 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

This Night Market has a Fright Night theme and includes fun and educational Halloween activities.

Mark your calendar for the final Movie in the Park event on Saturday, October 11 at Florence Joyner Park, 22760 Olympiad Road.

Families and individuals will enjoy activities, music, and games beginning at 5 pm before “The Goonies” screens around dusk.

The City of Mission Viejo hosted TeamNL (Netherlands Olympic Committee) and nearly 30 of its Olympic and Paralympic national federations for a High-Performance Summit last week. The City partnered with TeamNL to serve as the primary pre-games training site for their Olympic and Paralympic teams for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

Mission Viejo residents are invited to trick out their neighborhoods with spooky Halloween décor or create a pumpkin and fall harvest design for the fifth annual Mission Viejo Halloween and Fall Home Decorating Contest.

Make a splash this fall at our annual Pumpkin Dive on Saturday, October 25, from 1–5 pm at the Sierra Recreation and Fitness Center.

The Sierra pool will be transformed into a floating pumpkin patch for this family-friendly event. Along with jumping into the pool to find your perfect pumpkin, guests will have a chance to decorate their squash, get creative at the craft station, test their aim with the inflatable axe-throwing challenge, and enjoy plenty more festive activities.
