Earth Day is April 22
As we celebrate Earth Day each year on April 22, we are reminded to appreciate and protect our beautiful planet. At the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, we love including our furry family members in the celebration, too!
Here are some fun and earth-friendly things you can do to include your pets in your Earth Day plans:
- Go for a hike! Grab your leash and take your dog on a nature hike to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. Explore local trails, breathe in the fresh air, and soak up the scenery together.
- When walking your dog, make sure to bring a recyclable trash bag with you to pick up trash along the way.
- Use bio-degradable poop bags to clean up after your furry friend.
- Create an Earth Day obstacle course in your home using recycled materials such as cardboard boxes and tunnels. Your cat can chase a toy through the “eco-maze.”
- Plant a pet-friendly garden, which is a great way to improve air quality. Choose plants that are safe for your pets like catnip or oatgrass.
- Clean gently by using earth-friendly dog shampoos and other cleaners.
- Adopt! Adopting is the best way to “recycle.” You are providing a loving home for a pet in need.
