His strong work ethic and commitment to the City of Mission Viejo has earned him the respect of peers, supervisors, and community members alike.

Martinez is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Engine 24 in Mission Viejo. A crucial role within OCFA, Martinez’ primary duties include operating fire apparatus during fire suppression and rescue operations. He employs specialized firefighting equipment and ensures his crew rapidly responds to a wide variety of emergencies. He is also a practicing paramedic, which allows him to contribute to the health, well-being, and safety of the community during medical emergencies.

In addition, Martinez participates in fire prevention efforts, conducts annual building inspections and takes part in public education programs along with crew members on Engine 24.

Martinez’ supervisor Battalion Chief Levi Medina said his diverse background and wildland firefighting experience enhances OCFA’s ability to combat and successfully manage local wildfires. He is a huge asset to the organization and this community.

“I have had the privilege of watching Jaime Martinez’ career journey with the OCFA,” Battalion Chief Medina said when nominating him for the recognition. “From his early days as a passionate young firefighter to his current role as a respected instructor and fire apparatus engineer, he has consistently demonstrated profound dedication to his profession … his contributions significantly enhance public safety and contribute to the overall well-being of our community.”

The City of Mission Viejo appreciates Fire Apparatus Engineer Jaime Martinez’ vast efforts and commitment to his field.  He will be honored by the City Council on January 28.
