The City Council on Tuesday recognized a significant commemoration, talented musicians and received public safety updates.

Council Members proclaimed January 27 as the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of Holocaust, and a proclamation was presented to Rabbi Zalman Marcus who shared thoughts on the significance of the day.

The second presentation featured a check delivered to Big Brothers Big Sisters from funds raised at the 5th Annual Konrad Reuland Charity Tennis/Pickleball Tournament, and the remarkable impacts of Konrad and his legacy. The money will support Big Brothers Big Sisters, which provides resources and mentorships to disadvantaged youth with aspirations of attending college and pursuing their dreams. Registration is now open for the 6th Annual Tournament in March.

The Council also recognized the Trabuco Hills High School Thundering Mustangs Marching Unit and Symphony Orchestra. This renowned squad recently participated in the London New Year’s Day Parade and Concert Series and performed in front of a global audience of millions. Director Brad Pollock spoke about their unique opportunity on the world stage and shared a video of their performance.

During Tuesday’s meeting, Orange County Sheriff’s Department Captain Jason Ivins and Orange County Fire Authority Division Chief Cheyne Maule provided public safety updates, advice for residents, and discussed recent success stories.

The City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
