As part of an effort to enhance economic development and recognize local businesses, the City launched a Business Spotlight program that began with longtime Mission Viejo business Grumpy’s Barbers during the City Council’s meeting on Tuesday. In recognition of the establishment’s service in the community since 1968, the Council presented a proclamation and aired a new City social media video

Council Members also unanimously voted to accept $1,175,794 in State grant funding for the North Oso Creek Bike/Pedestrian Trail Open Space project to expand and enhance the popular trail.

Along with trail development, the Council awarded a contract for the Quad Cities Trail Project, a new initiative funded by the Orange County Transportation Authority to expand bicycle network connections and add safety improvements on the trail from the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink Station to the Los Alisos Creek Trail near Hero’s Park in Lake Forest.

To honor the national anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Council unanimously voted to host a City of Mission Viejo America 250th Celebration Parade.  The parade takes place the morning of July 11, so stay tuned to the City’s News page and social media channels for all the exciting updates.

Council Members recognized Marines from the City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton and presented certificates of commendation to the “Marine of the Quarter" Corporal Marvin Joseph Mecano and "Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter" Corporal Branden Solberg.

The Council also presented a proclamation to South County Outreach, a local nonprofit dedicated to assisting individuals and families in need with vital resources such as food, housing assistance, and educational programs that empower residents to achieve self-sufficiency.

City Council meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.
