Is there some place identified, at this time for where people in each evacuation zone might go? What kinds of places are being considered ?

Are we fire ready? Has our fire hydrants been checked, is the brush cleared away by homes, are our water towers full and emergency pumps working if we lose power. I suggest we train home owners how to prevent and stop a wild fire from spreading. A volunteer trained neighbors to assist in saving homes and evacuating neighbors. Trabuco Canyon and some of our green belts could be a major concern if we don’t have a safe line of defense against a wild fire.

Where is my evacuation place? I am not able to see it on your map; your map is not clear to see is just blurry!

Thank you for your comments on the News page. Living in California means you are exposed to many different disasters including wildfires and earthquakes. Emergency services officials may direct residents to evacuate and/or shelter-in-place during a disaster. Knowing your evacuation zone is critical to take potentially life-saving measures during a disaster.

While I can see on a computer (not a cell phone) that I am in zone 22, what am I supposed to do with that knowledge? I can see the main roads of Antonio, Oso, Alicia, Lake Forest in my area and other ways to get to a freeway, but I have no idea if the City or County thinks I should go to a specific location or are they just showing me ways to get to larger roadways. Can someone elaborate?

Thank you for your comments on the City's News page. While no such orders have been issued for Mission Viejo at present, a future emergency situation may involve public safety agencies declaring that persons living in specific zones would be directed to evacuate, shelter-in-place, etc. Knowing your evacuation zone and being familiar with as many routes in and out of your area as possible, in addition to your other safety precautions (https://www.cityofmissionviejo.org/news/take-precautions-stay-safe-duri…) in advance of such a warning could save critical time in the event of an emergency direction.
