Since the legalization of marijuana in California, there has been a noticeable rise in unintentional marijuana poisoning among children. THC, the active compound in marijuana, is now available in a variety of edible forms that can easily be mistaken for regular treats. These include gummy bears, chocolate bars, cookies, brownies, and sweet beverages like soda and lemonade. When children unknowingly consume these products, they are at risk of THC poisoning—often ingesting far more than the recommended adult dosage. The familiar appearance of these edibles makes them especially dangerous as kids may confuse them with everyday snacks or candy.
