The City’s 2025-27 proposed budget, which is balanced, is now available for review – ahead of the City Council’s June 10 meeting.

During that meeting, Council Members will consider the fiscal year 2025-27 budget, a $197.1 million bundle of services, programs and projects for the benefit of Mission Viejo residents and businesses. The proposed budget provides for essential service levels and programs – with $18 million in funding included for capital improvements.

Public safety remains the City's top priority with about 30% of the budget dedicated to these services. Infrastructure maintenance comprises $54.6 million of the budget and includes all park, median, slope and facility maintenance.

The full budget report is available at this link, and the public is invited to attend the meeting and provide input. Following the June 10 budget workshop, the final budget adoption is scheduled for the Council’s June 24 meeting.

The City Council meets at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center, and meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

While the current crisis often breaks down into partisan debate, we make a big mistake looking at it that way. This is not Ds and Rs struggling for control. No, this is class warfare: The very rich versus the rest of us. The very rich are winning. To fund drastic tax reductions for the very rich, programs both domestic and international have already been cut or are scheduled to be cut or even eliminated in the budget bill now under consideration. These program cuts take food, shelter and health care from some of America's and world's neediest people. Mission Viejo will have more hungry, homeless and medically needy people. Our resources should make care for those who need help most the City's highest priority.
