Paid Time Off
Comprehensive Annual Leave
Provides employees with paid time off for rest and relaxation, personal or family illness, bereavement, and personal business. For FLSA non-exempt classifications, 19 days annual accrual during the first year, increasing to 30 days beginning in year ten, prorated based on the full-time equivalent for all part-time positions. For exempt classifications, 24 days annual accrual during the first year, increasing to 35 days beginning in year ten, prorated based on the full-time equivalent for all part-time positions.
Comprehensive Annual Leave Buy-Back Program
Employees can make one written irrevocable election in December of each calendar year requesting the City buy-back Comprehensive Annual Leave (CAL) accrued hours for payout in the next calendar year. The maximum buy-back election shall not exceed an employee's maximum annual accrual, cannot exceed 280 hours for a FLSA exempt employee or 240 hours for a FLSA non-exempt employee, and an employee must have a remaining CAL balance of 180 hours after the election. An employee must also have taken a minimum of 80 hours of leave in the election year, including no less than 40 hours leave over 5 consecutive business days to be eligible. A part-time employee's participation in this program will be prorated based on the employee's full-time equivalent (FTE). CAL buy-back is subject to all federal, state, and/or local taxes in force at the time of issuance, but is not subject to California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) withholding. This program does not apply to probationary employees.
Jury Duty Leave
Employees are granted up to 30 paid days for jury service.
Industrial Accident Leave
Provides up to 30 paid days while an employee is unable to work due to a work-related injury and/or illness.
