Code Enforcement Overview
The City's Code Enforcement staff respond to potential violations of the City of Mission Viejo Municipal Code which includes property maintenance, recreational vehicle parking and storage, zoning regulations, signs, and home occupations. When a violation is identified, the responsible parties are contacted and requested to abate the violation. If the respondent fails to comply with the City codes, the City conducts administrative hearings giving the respondent every opportunity to voluntarily comply. If voluntary compliance cannot be achieved, the City Attorney may prosecute the case. Administrative citations are utilized for some minor infractions, while a criminal and civil complaint process is used for significant violations.
When filing a complaint, please be sure to include a brief description of the potential code violation and the location. A daytime phone number is helpful should additional information be required. Please see below, Access MV 24/7, to file a complaint or ask a question on-line. Additionally, you may email cd@cityofmissionviejo.org or you can speak to a Code Enforcement Officer by calling 949-470-3055.
